Arnold Boonen (1669-1729) war ein niederländischer Porträtmaler, bekannt für seine meisterhaften Darstellungen bedeutender Persönlichkeiten wie Peter der Große, die Genremalerei mit feiner Porträtkunst vereinte.

The painter leans against a balustrade on which are two drawings, the top of a landscape. Van Huysum is dressed in a white, open shirt with over it a lilac with yellow shirt. A deep purple cloak is half wrapped around his shoulders. He wears a long white powdered wig. The painter has turned left but looks to the right the image. A deep red curtain on the left.
