Peeter Neeffs der Jüngere (1620 - 1675)

Peeter Neeffs der Jüngere war ein bedeutender flämischer Maler des 17. Jahrhunderts, bekannt für seine detailreichen Innenansichten von Kirchen, insbesondere Antwerpener Kathedrale. Seine Werke zeichnen sich durch Licht und Schatten aus und sind in Museen wie dem Louvre zu sehen.

The sculpted and human figures and the altarpiece (based on the Rubens at Mechlin) were executed by "the young Francken," as the signature attests. He frequently collaborated with the architectural painters Pieter Neeffs the Elder and the Younger. Small nocturnal views, with their jewel-like effects of artificial illumination, were popularized in the genre by Hendrick van Steenwyck the Younger (Flemish, born about 1580, died 1649).
