Lin Liang (c. 1424-1500) was a Ming Dynasty Chinese imperial painter renowned for vibrant plum, flower & fruit works. A pioneer of Cantonese painting with an unconstrained style, influencing Japanese Kano school artists.

Identified by the white patch on their heads as "whitehaired oldsters" (baitou weng), the birds in this painting are auspicious symbols of longevity.
