Shōzan Gen’Yō

Shōzan Gen’yō (1634-1727) was a Japanese imperial princess, Zen Buddhist nun, and accomplished artist of the Edo period. Known for her serene paintings of Kannon, particularly those created at Rinkyūji Convent, she blended artistic skill with deep religious devotion and patronage.
