This whimsical collection of doodles was made during a dinner at the Pavillon de Bellevue (part of the Palace Hotels group), near Paris on July 3, 1899. The drawings are made on the back of menus and place cards. The elaborate meal featured pea soup, trout in brown butter, sweetbreads with peas, roasted saddle of lamb, vegetable salad, cheese, fruit, and, of course, wine. One of the artists dining with Frick was his friend Théobald Chartran, who drew a caricature of himself eating one of Helen Clay Frick
