margaret kathleen nichol, known by her pseudonym pegi nicol macleod, was a talented canadian painter born on january 17, 1904, in listowel, ontario. her artistic journey began with an early move to ottawa in 1908, where her father became principal of the ottawa technical school. macleod's art education commenced at the newly re-established art association of ottawa school in 1921, followed by studies under franklin brownell from 1922 to 1923. she later attended the école des beaux-arts de montréal, where she honed her skills in figure study and life drawing.artistic career and influences
