“[...] Iberê Camargo’s work also points to an understanding of print as a way of stilling his more illustrative side. All the subjects of his paintings were also tested in prints. Many critics have recognised the painterly qualities of his graphic work. The artist himself admitted as much, recalling that Rembrandt and Goya also made painterly prints. But we certainly cannot talk of a mere transposition of the painterly image to the technique of engraving and printing. That would make no sense when we see the involvement and seriousness with which Iberê engaged in the study and teaching of the art of print.”Vera Beatriz Siqueira, Cálculo da expressão: Oswaldo Goeldi, Lasar Segall e Iberê Camargo (Porto Alegre: Fundação Iberê Camargo, 2010), 125.
