Ocean Red
Huang Pei-Ying likes to try out new techniques from games and experimentation. She is especially adept at using fixed materials to create atmospheric installations, such as the rich organic shapes of a built-up soft sculptures made out of cardboard or PE tube foam– both of which are already part of the artist’s distinctive creative language. The piece is made up of a large number of red acrylic beads, creating a dream world that fills the space. The artist seeks to establish a hypothesis based on her observation: “Creating an intense atmosphere can attract rich resonance.” She creates an amusing signal receiving process through the projection of symbols and when these overlap, different viewers draw out dissimilar arcs and finishing points.
