As one of the leading artists from the post-reformation era, Eko’s comic-inspired works reflect on the phenomena that transformed the socio-political landscape in Indonesia. The Monument of 98, which features his part-man-part-machine character, revisits this moment in the transitions towards greater democracy and reflects on the ideals and inspirations that moved so many artists and citizens of his generation.
