  • 制作日1633
  • 寸法29.0 x 24.0 cm
The Leeuwarden Series: Commanders-in-Chief of the Forces of the States-General Willem Adriaen was general of the artillery of the States-General from 1603 to 1628. In 1606, he became governor of Geertruidenberg, and in 1613 governor of Heusden after the death of his brother Maximiliaan, who had held the post.43 The prototype has not been located. The lace-edged whisk worn by Willem Adriaen suggests it was executed between about 1605 and 1615. Dendrochronology of the present painting indicates that it was executed in or after 1616.
