On Sunday February 2nd 1592, Ana de Mendoza y de la Cerda, I duchess of Pastrana and princess of Eboli, died in her palace in Pastrana. For longer than thirteen years, Philip II had imprisoned her and deprived her of both the custody of her children and the administration of her property.
