The sacrifice of Iphigenia. The high priest Kalchas is about to sacrifice Ihpigenia to Artemis, whose statue is on the altar. Iphigenia kneels before him with bare torso. King Agamemnon, left, holds a hand in front of his eyes. Left and right spectators turn their heads.
