This landscape, studied in the open air, encounters its plenitude here, that is, it reveals a poetics and dramaticism of its own, marked in a brief manner by the farmer and his livestock. A romantic piece due to the amplitude of the composition, it also announces the naturalist aesthetic which triumphed during the Universal Exhibition in Paris of 1867, where this painting was presented.
