The “Aachen Room” is a striking example of the outstanding art of interior design in the Baroque period. The exceptional ensemble in this room brings together tapestries from Brussels, oak-carved panelling, doors decorated with rocaille reliefs and a marble fireplace. The once stuccoed ceiling was lost to bombing in the Second World War. All the preserved elements provide an authentic impression of the room, which was designed according to French models and was part of the house belonging to Aachen cloth manufacturer and mayor, Johann von Wespien.
