Antuan Šarl Oras Vernet (Karle Vernet) bio je francuski slikar poznat po dinamičnim scenama bitaka koje slave Napoleona, očaravajućoj umetnosti lova i majstorskim prikazima konja. Sin Kloda Žozefa Verneta, otac Horasa Verneta.
The circumstances surrounding the execution of this study are obscure. Yet the existence of a cognate image by the artist Achille-Etna Michallon (1796–1822), which was acquired at the latter’s estate sale by another contemporary, Léon Cogniet (1794–1880), testifies to the avid interest in Arab dress among young artists of the Romantic generation. The painting by Michallon is now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Orléans.
