Yuan Yunfu was born in 1933 in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. He graduated from Hangzhou National Art College in 1952 and was admitted to the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1952. In 1956, he taught in the newly established Central Academy of Arts and Crafts. He is currently the director of the Chinese Artists Association, vice president of the Chinese Fresco Society and president of the Public Art Institute of the Chinese National Academy of Painting. In 2007, he was awarded the 6th Plastic Arts Achievement Award by the Chinese Federation of Literature. He has held exhibitions in Beijing, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the United States, Singapore, Japan, France and Malaysia. HIs main works are Zhonghua Zhong, Panorama of Rivers and Mountains, Dawn, Motherland Land and so on.
