His popularity spread to the US when Richard Gere wore his outfits in the 1970 film American Gigolo. In 1991, he introduced the A/X Armani Exchange lines and boutiques. The garments here reveal the menswear tailoring that made him famous carried out on luxury fabrics and colors, including (on the center and stage left model) the gold of Carnegie Hall’s molding.
