Soviet propaganda porcelain. The chess set shows not only the struggle of different ideologies, but each figure has its own individual characterization. The propaganda porcelain was produced in small editions and was mainly intended for showcasing at exhibitions abroad. The author of the shape of the chess figures, sculptor and the head of the sculpture workshop of the State Porcelain Factory Natalya Danko (Наталья Данько, 1892–1942) was also responsible for the export of the factory
