Tube radio

The Philips Muziektempel is a beautiful piece of technology and aesthetic design. It featured a newly introduced ‘multi-inductance’ switching system and could receive three wavelength ranges. Tuning was done by means of a ‘shining star,’ a system with a lamp that gets brighter to indicate when the signal is strongest as the user turns the tuning knob. The speaker can handle the highest tones and lowest bass equally well, for beautiful sound reproduction. The wooden cabinet with three Bakelite knobs has been well cared for. There were many stories of this type of radio being kept in secret during the Second World War, even though all radios were supposed to have been surrendered.
