This work belongs to a cycle of monumental paintings in which Dino De Domincis represents figures drawn from the Sumerian civilization’s vision of the cosmos, a subject explored by the artist throughout his life. The epic creation story developed by the Sumerians in fact underlies this series of works characterised by the white of the images and the gold background. In this Untitled, a slim female figure rises from a pedestal, the only element that ties her to the terrestrial world. The composition scheme of the work is based on a double T: the one formed from the vertical of the female figure and the horizontal pedestal and the overturned one of the stylized face of the woman. Her spiritual and iconic presence emerges from the gilded background in a dimension with neither space nor time. Her enigmatic nature reflects the mystery of the origin of the universe.
