About the Artist
Jacob Isaakszoon van Ruisdael (c. 1628/1629 - 1682) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, draftsman, and printmaker, considered one of the greatest landscape painters in European art history. Born in Haarlem, he became a member of the city's guild of Saint Luke in 1648. Ruisdael's father, Isaack van Ruisdael, was also a painter, and his uncle Salomon van Ruysdael was an important influence on his early career.The Painting
