Shirin Neshat’s artistic consciousness was forged in the crucible of profound political transformation. Born in Qazvin, Iran, her early years were steeped in the rich traditions of Persian calligraphy and Islamic aesthetics, yet it was the seismic shift of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that would ultimately define her creative trajectory.
