Between the nineteen-fifties and nineteen-sixties, a wave of enthusiastic avant-garde concrete artists, poets, and writers emerged in Brazil, specifically in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro cities. By the end of the fifties, the movement split into “neoconcretos cariocas” and “concretos paulistas” groups. Antônio Dias was involved in both of them, though he stepped back from those orthodoxies some time later to delve into an eclectic aesthetic style. This work belong to that period, featuring ironic and provoking figures which combine the legacy of the constructive experience of the fifties with the chaotic impulse of the emerging tropicalista movement of the time.
