A Napoleonic War Dutch Plateelbakkerij Delft or Pottery Bakery Delft commemorative plate is one of a set consisting of 14 plates. The pottery that made these, although they had Delft, a town in The Netherlands in their name was made in Amsterdam. Decorated in blue and red the plate commemorates progress through 100 years in The Netherlands. In the center the Virgin of The Netherlands and the Lion depicting the Dutch Crown and military. On the rim the coat of arms of Amsterdam at the bottom and symbols of industry including steel, railway, electricity, shipping and medical advancement. The plate was donated by Louise van Gybland Oosterhoff to the University of Pretoria in 1937.
