Caboose
1913
14.0 x 22.0 cm
Cabooses began as shanties constructed to shelter train crews atop flatcars. Unique to North America, the first caboose debuted in 1841 on the Auburn & Syracuse Railroad in New York State. Märklin produced their first toy caboose in 1904 and sold it separately as an accessory to other train sets. This hand-painted example bears the initials “P.R.R” for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
