Huang Daozhou was one of the leading exponents of cursive script during the late Ming dynasty (1568–1644). Huang’s brush races, not even pausing to lift between characters, creating cascades of text as it moves down each column. From the time of its birth around 200 B.C., cursive script has been in continuous use in China.
