Elisabeth-Louise Vigée-Lebrun (Nepoznati umetnik – Nepoznati umetnik)
Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun (1755-1842) was a leading portraitist of 18th-century French aristocracy, famed for her elegant depictions of Marie Antoinette and other prominent figures. Her Rococo and Neoclassical style captured both likeness and personality with refined beauty.
The baroness (1770–1852), a woman of letters—she is thought to be the “Madame de T . . .” who in 1818 published a collection of poetry—is seated at a table with a quill pen and papers in hand. Wearing an Empire dress of dark velvet trimmed with fur, she gazes intently at the viewer with a calm, inquisitive expression.
