Adriaen van der Werff (1659-1722) was a Dutch Baroque painter renowned for his detailed portraits, mythological & erotic scenes. A highly lauded artist of his time, he served as court painter and influenced 18th-century art.
Loved couple in a park watched by children. A naked young man with a laurel wreath on his head embraces a naked young woman. On the ground is a whistle. In the background images of Silenus and a dancing satyr, on the right two children watch from behind bushes.
