Night battle scene at dusk. Dark blue sky, with white moon on the right with clouds around and moonlight reflected in the waters of the sea. In the foreground, in the center, a longboat with a man inside rescuing several wounded soldiers around the boat. On the left, a wounded man rests on the wreckage thrown overboard, with cannon shots next to him in white dots. In the background, in the center, two large vessels are in battle. The vessel on the left is anchored, with the Brazilian flag flying, and has a cannon racing battery; around the hull, several men try to save themselves by leaning on ropes. On deck, soldiers in combat shoot towards another vessel on the right, with a white and blue flag flying; around the hull, men duel with swords. Between the two vessels, a large amount of red smoke. Around and in the background, other vessels. In the background and to the right, an island with a lighthouse. Signature of the author in the lower left corner: E. de Martino.
