Bakst creates costumes for the Russian balletAglaia — a modern costume fantasyThe Great Eunuch — a costume of one of the characters in ScheherazadeFrom the ballet The GamesSultana in BlueFrom Daphnis and ChloeThe above costumes by Bakst bear his trademark elegance and fantasy character. In all of the costumes (which, incidentally, were all created by Jeanne Paquin) special details are present. In Aglaia, the brooch shapes the lines of the attire, which is one of Bakst’s favorite techniques. The costumes for The Great Eunuch and Sultana in Blue are characteristic examples of fanciful and tempting Orientalism; and in Daphnis and Chloe, Greek gracefulness is emphasized, and as for The Games, it is self-explanatory.
