Ships in front of the Roads of Dordrecht
Central on this painting is a three-masted ship with at least 36 guns. Many men are working on deck: also in the rigging where the sails are reefed. In the foreground two fishermen are in a sloop. The man in the back rows the boat while the man in front throws (or reels in) the net. The water is the so called Drierivierenpunt near Dordrecht, Zwijndrecht and Papendrecht where the Beneden-Merwede, the Noord Maas and the Oude Maas converge.
