This hat with fitted crown has an asymmetrical brim, or so-called paradise flank, the underside of which is covered with shiny black silk satin. The exterior of the hat is made entirely of narrow strands of straw that have been sewn together. On the pulled down brim displays a partially preserved ornament—a round faceted glass stone on a pleated ribbon rosette.
