Fabergé Kuropatkin Chess Set, Board and Case
Studio master Karl Gustav Hjalmar Armfeldt produced this board from squares of greenish Siberian jade and apricot sepentine framed by aventurine quartz. The silver base of the board is decorated with flawlessly sculpted acanthus and laurel leaf patterns and engraved in tribute to the general with the names of twelve or more royals, officers, and other major state figures.Similar in form to the Rock Crystal Set and Board (1525), also on view in this exhibit, precision turned and polished
