      Pieter van der Werff (1665-1722): Dutch Golden Age painter renowned for refined portraits & Baroque scenes of Rotterdam's elite. Pioneer in using Prussian blue.

      Portrait of Adriaen Paets (1631-86), chosen in 1668. Bust in oval to right. Part of a series of portraits of the directors of the Rotterdam Chamber of the United East India Company, made for the New East India House from 1698 on the Boompjes in Rotterdam.
