      The art is comprised of four pieces that tell a story of patience. It begins with the entrapment of a dream leading on to the possibility and achievement of the ultimate goal. The sojourner eventually leaps towards permanency, thus entering the third phase of the H-1B worker, until reaching the final phase: the development of a cultural tree.This first piece depicts the stereotypical desire to be part of American society. It symbolizes the need for relaxing certain regulations for families and individuals with the H-1B visa. The vertical bar represents the entrapment of the desires and worries of an uncertain future that lays ahead for the individual and the family.__VIVEK SASHIDHARAN was born in India and came to United States to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies. He has worked in the IT industry for over seven years. He believes art to be tremendously therapeutic, especially as a means of documenting the experience of immigration. He lives near Boston, MA.
