１枚の銅版で摺られた江戸時代の観賞用銅版画としては最大級の作品。前景部分の図様のルーツは、18世紀イタリアの銅版画家ピラネージが描いた空想的な古代ローマ風景図に求められるが、その海賊版ともいうべき銅版眼鏡絵が日本に舶来し、田善が参考にしたと考えられる。ただし、本図の後方には、ピラネージのローマ風景には関係のない、新しい時代のフランス風の宮殿建築（パリのルーヴル宮？）が描かれており、全く別の銅版画も摸したとも考えられる。時空を異にするイメージを合成した銅版異国絵。下余白に「文化六年巳己正月亜歐堂田善」と記す。
