Le opere di Nagasawa sono al confine tra scultura e architettura. Paravento S è un’opera composta da 18 elementi cuneiformi di marmo denominato Rosso Luana (un marmo di Carrara) risultanti da una serie di tagli attuati su un blocco cavato nelle AlpiApuane. I tagli sono ortogonali e paralleli tra loro. I blocchi sono stati poi avvicinati verticalmente gli uni con gli altri, rendendo attiguo e tangente un solo spigolo di ogni forma con l’altra. L’intera forma si articola sul pavimento in modo serpentino con snodi geometrici e angolazioni diversificate, rompendo tanto la linearità quanto la monoliticità assumendo l’aspetto di una leggiadra estensione plastica secondo un andamento imprevedibile e inosservabile da un solo punto di vista. L’opera così induce a farsi guardare seguendone lo sviluppo a S. Paravento risulta come una cortina impenetrabile per la sua densità geologica. Lo sguardo è investito da una vertigine creata dalla congiunzione delle venature cromatiche con un effetto ondivago e di fluttuazione ascendente. Il nome dell’opera è un chiaro rimando ai paraventi giapponesi di cui richiama non solo la forma, ma anche il delicato colore delle stoffe orientali.
