Horse after work
1952
5.0 x 27.0 cm
Fondazione - Archivio Antonio Ligabue di Parma
The horse reconstructed with faithful physiological attention in the attitude with the lowered head indicates the tiredness of the end of the work, accentuated with extreme skill in the saddle and in the saddle, the definition of which seems to accentuate the stress and annoyance. The resting position is firm on the legs well planted on the ground. Only the tail full of hair seems young, while the whole, probably due to fatigue, has the air of an old, docile animal, submissive and available in everyday life to carry out its tasks with habitual resignation. Even in sculpture Ligabue does not hide his interest in constructing a story, a narration, as also happens in this case.
