This is shaped like two carved out squashes full of peanuts, laying one on top of the other. This type of bottle is also featured as part of sacred food offering ceremonies portrayed in Moche decorated vases characterized by fineline painting. Offering part of the harvest to the gods was a common aspect of ceremonies characterizing the pre-Hispanic agricultural calendar, as documented by the heaps of fruit and vegetables unearthed by archaeologists in the religious buildings that line the coast of Peru.
