Adolphe Dubreuil (1844-Living) was a Peruvian photographer known for his 'sombre clarté' style & portraits of prominent figures. Rediscovered in 1988, his work showcases early photographic techniques like carbon and platinum printing.
Mercedes Cabello Llona de Carbonera (Moquegua, 1842 - Lima, 1909) was a Peruvian writer and intellectual, representative of female essayism and the Peruvian realist novel. In her writings, Cabello expressed her concern for women, and addressed the issue of the need for female education, also criticizing the work that the church has done in this regard. Also, she reflected on the role of literature, proposing the adoption of a realistic and critical style. Some of her writings were awarded by national and international recognitions, as well as caused her enmities.
