Under the mentorship of the legendary Jean-Baptiste Regnault, Bodem mastered the essential principles of balance, proportion, and idealized form. This period of intense academic training was not merely about technique but about learning to speak the language of antiquity. His early ambitions were clearly articulated in 1805 when he competed for the prestigious Prix de Rome, presenting a powerful rendition of La Mort de Démosthène, a work that demonstrated his burgeoning ability to infuse classical subjects with profound dramatic weight.A Bridge Between Artistic Eras
