Vancouver Art Gallery (Vancouver, Canada)
Home to an unparalleled collection of Emily Carr's masterpieces and world-class photography, the Vancouver Art Gallery offers a profound journey through Canadian and international art that invites you to explore its beauty.
Born on a military base and growing up during the height of the Cold War, during his childhood Coupland imagined the Arctic as a probable location for the collision of US and Soviet nuclear warheads. In his Snowmen series, he has created a stack of decreasing circles that recall the form of snowmen. These colourful figures, however, also have a darker connotation; composed of concentric rings, these targets are poised for posssible attack.
