Georgius Jacobus Johannes van Os, born in Den Haag in 1782 and passing away in Paris in 1861, stands as a pivotal figure within the Dutch Golden Age artistic landscape. However, it was Susanna de la Croix, Jan's wife and fellow artist, who nurtured his passion for botanical illustration.
