“In my mind, all the concepts, sensations and ideas took the shape of points, segments, lines, colours, volumes, weights and relations at the dynamic, elementary, geometric level in their development.” (ALVIANI, 1974, p. 5).In an attempt to express his mental reality in geometric modules susceptible of dynamicmodification, Alviani began to experiment in 1961 with the vibrating effectsof light on surfaces by means of typically industrial materials and processes, includingthe use of an electrical milling machine on sheets of aluminium so as to obtainan optical effect that changes in relation to the angle from which it is seen andstruck by light. Actively involved in the field of Kinetic Art, Alviani regards his works as fully experiencedonly when the viewer abandons static contemplation to play an active partby moving in order to see the ever-changing surface of vibrating texture from everyangle.
