His artistic journey began under the mentorship of Hap Grieshaber at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe (today Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe), where he honed his craft in 1957-59, absorbing influences from artists like Willem de Kooning and embracing the expressive freedom of Abstract Expressionism.- Early Influences & Artistic Exploration: Antes’ formative years were marked by a fascination with Surrealist ideas and an initial foray into figurative painting, mirroring the broader artistic currents of his time.
