Paralleling Memories
Game Rules 1. Observe how the physical images interact with their environment through photographic activity. 2. Use nine sets of ready-made miniature figurines as characters. 3. Every day, at four-hourly intervals (10:00, 14:00, 18:00 and 22:00), pick up and photograph one figurine based on what it is doing at that time. Treating it as both a game and an experiment, Artist Chu Yin-Hua uses ready-made figurines to embark on a journey of exploration through a new perspective. When visitors are reduced to view the world from the figurines’ perspective, they have pressed the START button of the artist’s game. Chu wants his viewers to break their routine cycles of daily life through interpreting the ambiguity of the city and using their imaginations to construct a cityscape of their own.
