Born in 1745, Jean Pierre Norblin De La Gourdaine started his career in France, training in the studio of Jacques-Philippe Caresme and later under Louis-Michel van Loo. He entered the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture in 1765 and studied at the Ecole Royale des Elèves Protégés. In 1774, he arrived in Poland, where he gained fame as a court decorator and painter of the aristocratic family.Painting Style and Themes
