Night quarters in Molodetschno (Maladzechna), 3-4 December 1812: episode from the retreat of Emperor Napoleon from Russia. A night stay as used by both first lieutenants W.P. d"Auzon de Boisminart and his brother-in-law A. de Groot Stiffry. Soldiers shelter from a provisional shelter of reeds near a campfire, right the horses. At the fire, a man kneels with a pig's head in his hands. On the left the French soldiers walk in long rows through the snow.
