Collectible Description

Der Dokumentenschrank mit Uhrenaufsatz im Arbeits- und Schlafzimmer von Schloss Sanssouci wird Jean-Pierre Latz (1691-1754) zugeschrieben. Das Gehäuse ist mit Mahagoni und Amaranth furniert und wurde mit reichen feuervergoldeten Gelbgussornamenten dekoriert. König Friedrich II. von Preußen (1712-1786) erwarb den Cartonnier mit Uhr gemeinsam mit dem zugehörigen Schreibtisch auf Vermittlung von Graf Friedrich Rudolf von Rothenburg (1710-1751) in Paris. In dem Uhrwerk und auf der Rückseite des Zifferblatts findet sich die Jahreszahl 1747, so dass die Fertigstellung des Ensembles mit Uhr zu diesem Zeitpunkt erfolgt sein muss. Vom Cartonnier mit Uhr ließ der König zwei Kopien anfertigen: eine für das Dritte Gästezimmer im Schloss Sanssouci, die andere für das Schloss Breslau. (Silke Kiesant)
