Caricature of President Washington Luís Pereira de Sousa (Macaé, October 26, 1869 - São Paulo, August 4, 1957), lawyer, historian and politician, eleventh president of the state of São Paulo, thirteenth president of Brazil and last president of the Old Republic. He was overthrown on October 24, 1930, twenty-one days before the end of his term as President of the Republic, by a military coup led by General Tasso Fragoso, who passed power on November 3 to the commanded political-military forces. by Getúlio Vargas, in the so-called Revolution of 1930.
